City of Krk winner of the "Tourist Flower" award 2010 |  |
 The City of Krk has won the prestigous "Tourist Flower" prize, awarded annually by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and Croatian Radio Television. The awards ceremony was held on 22nd of October 2010 in Rovinj, as part of the "Days of Croatian Tourism" conference.
The "Tourist Flower" award recognises the efforts of the Krk City Tourist board, local companies and Krk residents in making the city one of the top tourist attractions in Croatia, within the category for destinations with tourist capacity of more than 10,000 beds.
Krk city’s accommodation capacity is more than double than the number of its residents which in itself poses a challenge during the summer months when the population of City of Krk triples.
This is not the first time that the City of Krk has been awarded this prestigeous award. In 2008 the city won 2nd place and in 2006 1st place, both times within the category for towns with an accommodation capacity of between 5,000 and 10,000 beds.
Winning again this year in the much stronger category for more than 10,000 beds demonstrates the investment the city has made in creating additional accommodation capacity, as well as the continual improvement of Krk City as a prime tourist destination.

And finally, completing the awards gained by Krk Island attractions, the prize for "Marina of the Year" was awarded to Punat Marina, one of the largest Croatian marinas located in Punat just 8 kilometres from the City of Krk.
