Here are my impressions of the stay.
Interactions with the Aurea-KRK Agency
The online booking is simple and effective, with the ability to see the free apartments for a given period. The payment procedure is working well.
Access to the booked accommodation is simple and the instructions given by the agency are clear. However, I suggest that the GPS coordinates are provided for the rented place.
Accommodation booked:
The place is quiet and consistent with the description. The owners (who live in the same house) are friendly and welcoming, they can communicate in English. It would be better to describe more accurately the bed (6 people = 3 double beds). The terrace is great and it is nice to have meals when the weather is nice. The apartment is clean. The rental price includes the final cleaning, which is especially nice.
The location of the accommodation:
The apartment is located away from larger cities, in an area of the island less traveled by tourists.
The nearest beach is within walking distance (allow 15 minutes walk), access is via a stony path which can be a little difficult (especially going back). This beach is nice and not too busy. As we were with children, we have preferred more distant but car accessible beach, whose directions we got from the house owners.
The nearest store is accessible by car (less than 5 minutes), it is a small supermarket. However, we did our shopping in larger stores that are further away.
The island of Krk:
The island is very mountainous with small cliffs. At certain times, arrival or departure via the bridge that connects the island with the mainland can be a bit difficult because of traffic jams.
There are some cycling paths and we were hoping to cycle with the family, this proved too difficult for the family cycling because of the relief and the narrowness of the roads. Cycling is usually reserved for more athletic bicyclists.
The beaches are often rocky coves whose access is not always simple. The seabed is beautiful and can be simply discovered with a mask and the snorkel.
In the city of Krk harbour, many boat tours are offered to visitors. There are also many nice restaurants serving local specialties and international cuisine.
The island is mostly frequented by German and Italian tourists. When communicating in shops, it is best to speak German, English or Italian.
